Slide and Splash Water Slide Park
Carvoeiro is also ideally situated for family fun days out. Our favourite is the Slide and Splash at Lagoa 6.8km 11 minutes by car. We normally purchase tickets in advance in one of the car rental or gift shops in Carvoeiro. You will receive between 5 & 15% discount (depending on the time of year) also no queuing to buy them at the park.
Lagoa
Lagoa itself, although not the prettiest place, this is where a majority of the locals who work in the area live and eat out. This makes for very good value supermarkets and reasonably priced local restaurants.
On the main road in Lagoa (EN125) opposite and to the right to where the road from Carvoeiro joins the EN125, there is a fantastic (and very good value) restaurant that specialises in BBQ food. The chicken has to be the best in the Algarve.
Caves
From Marinah beach local fishermen will offer to take you and the family on a short boat trip through the local caves. Fantastic and well worth the 20-40 euro trip per boat/family. (Price depending on your negotiation skills)
LisbonLisbon is about 220km from our apartment and we find an easy drive. A new motorway was built just a few years ago. On the many trips we have taken we have only passed a handful of cars the entire trip. We assume this is due to the tolls (about €20each way for a car). |

VillamouraVillamoura is right next to Quarteira and has one of the world’s largest manmade marinas. Surrounded with exclusive shops, decent bars, restaurants and coffee shops. |
Golf
There are 2 fantastic courses in Carvoeiro, Val de Pinta & Gramacho. Pinta being my favourite. Playing golf in Portugal is a real treat, courses vary with plenty of choice & I’ve yet to play a poor one. When playing golf it’s best to use a golf agent. They tend to know where the local bargains can be found and we have often saved a lot of money over the normal price.
Zoo Marina
This is about 20 minutes from the apartment. As well as the usual marina attractions there is a pool to cool off.
